Yadupati Singhania ,renowned industrialist passes away

He was the Chairman & MD of JK Cement LtHead JK Cement

Renowned industrialist and Chairman and MD of JK Cement Ltd  Yadupati Singhania passed away this morning in Singapore after a protracted illness.


The 67-year-old Yadupati Singhania died in Singapore on Thursday. He was 67 and is survived by his wife, Kavita. Singhania was battling a prolonged illness for which he was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore, family sources said.


As news of his death broke, the business world was shocked and a lot of people have offered deep condolences.


He was actively involved in cricket activities and was the president Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association


“My heartfelt condolences at the passing away of renowned industrialist, Chairman, and MD of JK Cement Ltd Sh. Yadupati Singhania. May God give strength to his family members to bear this loss. May his soul rest in peace”, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has tweeted.


In Kanpur, which was the headquarters of the JK business group, a shock wave went through various circles as he was involved in promoting various institutions.

Like his grandfather Padampat and father Gaur Hari Singhania, he was also engaged in promoting cricket in UP.


Born on 29th September 1953, Mr. Singhania, a B.Tech from IIT Kanpur, has been involved in the cement industry for over thirty years. His active participation and dedication have shaped the Company’s growth path. Being an enterprising person, he played a pivotal role in the introduction of international quality white cement in the country.



Mr. Singhania was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jaykay Enterprises Limited since 1999, Director of Juggilal Kamlapat Cotton Spg. & Wvg. Mills Co. Ltd., Director of the Employers Association of Northern India and also the Chancellor of Sir Padampat Singhania University.



Among other responsibilities, he was the President of Kanpur Productivity Council. He is deeply involved in Social entrepreneurship. He is a Member of Rotary Club. He was a Member of the Board of Governors of the National Council for Cement and Building Material and Jodhpur Chamber of Commerce. On the industry front, he is a member of the Managing Committee of Cement Manufacturers Association.
