June 10,2021:The second phase of Covid 19 has yet to stabilize to raise hopes of relaxing lockdown in force in many states but Delhi and Karnataka are seriously contemplating easing the restriction strategy in phases and opening selectively to allow people to resume their normal activities.
Though a declining trend is being seen in general, sudden fluctuations in some states have cautioned the states to take a decisive stand on unlocking the activities. Delhi and Karnataka, which only two weeks ago, were reporting steep spikes in the cases, are taking steps to open their states with a cautious consideration on minimizing the individual contacts among people to ensure the transmissibility of novel corona was not severe.

On Wednesday, the Karnataka government indicated that the state may go for unlocking in four or five phases after June 14, when the current phase of lockdown ends.
According to media reports, the Karnataka Revenue Minister, Mr. R Ashoka on Wednesday indicated that a decision would be taken after assessing the situation in the coming days.
The state on Wednesday reported 10,959 new cases and 192 deaths with Bangalore reporting 2,395 fresh infections.
Mr. Ashoka said first the timings of shopping hours may get extended further. Also, those who go for a walk at parks may get some relief. All this would be subjected to a final decision by the Chief Minister. Lockdown will not be relaxed at one go, he added.
As of Wednesday, the Covid 19 scorecard is as follows:
Tamil Nadu recorded 17,321 positive cases on Wednesday, bringing the state’s tally to 22,92,025. Chennai reported 1345 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 5,20,877.
The state recorded 405 deaths on Wednesday, taking the overall toll to 28,170 of the 311 who had succumbed due to comorbidities. A total of 31,253 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,59,597.
Kerala: The State government has decided to set up a vaccine manufacturing unit to meet the demand of the state. Kerala cabinet at a meeting on Wednesday gave its approval to this proposal. The manufacturing unit is planned to be set up at Life Sciences Park in Thonnakkal, Thiruvananthapuram
A working group consisting of senior officials has been set up to initiate discussion vaccine producing companies for setting finalizing the plans to set up the production unit.
Meanwhile, the state reported 16,204 fresh cases and 156 deaths on Wednesday, taking the tally to 26,44,141 and the toll to 10,437. Recoveries from Covid 19 infection after treatment continued to outnumber fresh cases with 20,237 testing negatives. This took the total number of recoveries to 25,24,248.
Telangana on Wednesday reported 1,813 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the overall tally to 5,96,813. The fatalities stood at 3,426 with 17 more deaths on Wednesday. The number of recovered patients stood at 1,801, taking the cumulative number of recoveries to 5,69,086. The number of active cases was 24,301.
Hyderabad accounted for the greatest number of cases with 182 followed.
Vaccination: After a review of the implementation of the vaccination drive in the state, the government directed the officials to vaccinate 6 lakh persons from high-risk categories in Hyderabad, Warangal, and all other urban local bodies in the state in the next four days.
Andhra Pradesh: Covid positivity rate in the state dropped to 8.69 pc after the state made a massive two crore tests. The state also saw a decline in the number of active cases to 103,995. Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing a decreasing trend in the Covid 19 cases since May 17 when.
It had reported 2, 11,554 active cases.
