COVID-19 Situation India Updates : 94,372 new cases in 24-hrs; Center reviwes situation
India’s coronavirus caseload today soared past 47.54 lakhs with 78,586 deaths including 1,114 deaths in the last 24 hours. The country recorded 94,372 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24-hours, according to the Union Health Ministry dashboard.
The virus has infected more than 28.79 million people and killed 920,000 people so far globally, according to the figures published on John Hopkins University’s site. In the worst affected US, The Virus-infected 6,486,469 and killed over 193,000 so far.
Amid pandemic , the Monsson session 2020 of Parliament will begin from Monday, September 14, 2020. The fourth session of the 17th Lok Sabha and 252nd Session of Rajya Sabha is scheduled to be held on Monday, 14th September 2020, and subject to exigencies of Government Business, may conclude on Thursday, 1st October 2020.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated to the nation three key projects related to the Petroleum sector in Bihar today via video conferencing. The projects include the Durgapur-Banka section of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur Pipeline Augmentation Project and two LPG Bottling Plants. They have been commissioned by IndianOil and HPCL, PSUs under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The Parliament Session will provide a total of 18 sittings spread over a period of 18 days (all the days including Saturdays and Sundays of the ensuing session will be working days) and a total of 47* items have been identified for being taken up during the Monsoon Session, 2020. (*Includes 45 Bills and 02 financial items).
Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr. P.K. Mishra today chaired a high-level review meeting to comprehensively review the COVID-19 preparedness and response. The meeting focused on evidence-based learning on the management of cases across the Districts and States. The meeting also discussed the stage of vaccine development and vaccine distribution plan. The need for District Health Action Plans for long term management of various aspects of COVID was also discussed at the meeting.
The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, Member, NITI Aayog Dr. Vinod Paul, Principal Scientific Adviser, and all concerned Empowered Action Group Convenors and Secretaries of concerned Departments. It was noted with satisfaction that all Empowered Groups have worked very hard to achieve benchmarks in COVID management. Principal Secretary to Prime Minister directed all concerned for an evidence-based preparedness of all aspects of COVID-19 with the active participation of Districts and States for effectiveness.
A presentation on the COVID status in India, ongoing strategic interventions, and future challenges was given by Secretary Health. The presentation highlighted the status of States in terms of case trajectory, testing conducted, fatality & sample positivity duly also mentioning the districts of concern. The Secretary Health also discussed the eVIN Platform focusing on the vaccine supply chain, beneficiary enrolment system, and the delivery system once the vaccine is available.
Member, NITI Aayog made a detailed presentation on projections of cases based on various models. He also explained the ongoing efforts by the National Expert Group on vaccine administration for COVID-19. The overall landscape of vaccine research (both global and in India) was briefed
According to an official statement, India continues to report a high number of recoveries exceeding 70,000 every day. Focussed, collaborative, responsive & effective measures of early identification through high & aggressive testing, prompt surveillance & tracking coupled with standardized high-quality clinical care have in tandem led to this result.
78,399 recoveries have been registered in the last 24 hours in the country. With this, the total number of recoveries has touched 3,702,595 taking the Recovery Rate to77.88%.
58% of the new recovered cases are being reported from five States, viz. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra continues to lead with more than 13,000 recoveries while Andhra Pradesh has contributed more than 10,000 to the single-day recoveries.
94,372 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. Of this, Maharashtra alone has more than 22,000 cases followed by Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka with more than 9,000 cases each.
Nearly 57% of the new cases are reported from five States. These are also contributing 58% of the new recovered cases.
The total number of active cases in the country stands at 9,73,175 as on date.
Maharashtra has more than 2,80,000 cases followed by Karnataka with more than 97,000 cases.
Five states account for 60% of Total Active cases in the country viz. Maharashtra (28.79%), Karnataka (10.05%), Andhra Pradesh (9.84%), Uttar Pradesh (6.98%) and Tamil Nadu (4.84%).
1,114 deaths have been registered in the past 24 hours. Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of 391 deaths followed by Karnataka with 94 deaths, whereas Tamil Nadu has reported 76 deaths.
